Virginia-bred Sir Wooster was started over fences at age 3, running in both amateur and regulation chases. He "had a deal of speed, was a bold and good jumper and a good weight-carrier." In addition to the American Grand National (1909--his best year), he won eight other races in his twenty starts, including the Whitney Memorial and the Champion Steeplechase. |
