Bred and raced by one of American steeplechase racing's most prominent personalities, Mrs. Helen Hay Whitney, owner of Greentree Stable, the flashy chestnut Jolly Roger competed for six years, winning the American Grand National twice, at ages 5 and 6, and retiring in 1930 as steeplechasing's greatest money winner. His second dam, Forget (1893), was a top hurdler, who also produced the American steeplechaser Hylas. |
