Kentucky-bred Good and Plenty was rated as one of the U.S.'s top steeplechasers, even thirty years after his death in 1907. Power, speed, gameness, and jumping ability led him to 14 wins and 4 places out of 21 starts in his four seasons, sweeping all the top steeplechases of his era. In 1906 he won the American Grand National. Grandsire was Epsom Derby and Ascot Gold Cup winner Doncaster, responsible for so much of the continuation of the Darley Arabian line. |
