Tanerko

French-bred Tanerko was a good middle distance runner who won ten races in France, including the Prix d'Harcourt and the Prix Ganay, twice. He reached the top of the leading sires of broodmares in France, and due largely to the efforts of his Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris winning son, Mon Filleul, he was the leading sire of jumpers one year. His sons and grandsons have also sired top chasers in Ireland, Italy and France; son Orvillers won the Grande Course de Haies d' Auteuil in 1968, and went on to sire two winners of the Grand Steeple, including Metatero, who, after his big win in 1982, was considered the top chaser in France.
