Ruy Blas

French-bred Ruy Blas won fourteen of his nineteen races, including the G.P. Baden-Baden in Germany. He got the French Oaks winner Nubienne, and near descendants who won the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris. His sire, West Australian, was sold upon the death of his owner, Lord Londesborough, in 1860, to the Duc de Morny, Napoleon III's half-brother. After the Duke's death he was sent to the French National Stud, where he got Ruy Blas.
