Freeman's Hill was a good timber horse of the late 1980s; he won the New Jersey and Pennsylvania Hunt Cups in 1987, and the following year won My Lady's Manor Steeplechase and the Maryland Hunt Cup, two legs of timber racing's "Triple Crown." His sire, Mystic II, a tail-male descendant of Man O' War who was born in France, was a long-running, weight-carrying handicapper who won sixteen races and placed second 17 times in over 80 starts in Europe and the U.S; he was a good jumper sire who also got 1984 Maryland Hunt Cup winner Bewley's Hill, the 1987 My Lady's Manor winner Onamystic (full brother to Freeman's Hill), and Babmist, sire of top international-level combined training horses. He was also damsire of the 1989 Cup winner, Uncle Merlin. Freeman's Hill's dam, Miss Milt, also produced the aforementioned Bewley's Hill and Onamystic. |
