French-bred gelding Dandolo was a two-time winner of the Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris, carrying heavy weight; the jockey of his 1904 win, P. Woodland, took Canard to his win of the same race the following year. Dandolo's grandsire, Dutch Skater, got some good race fillies, including St. Leger winner Dutch Oven and Insulaire, winner of the Prix du Jockey Club and the Ascot Derby; a Dutch Skater son, Jarnac, sired Old Tom, winner of the 1891 Irish Grand National. Dandolo's damsire, Nougat, won the Grand Prix de Deauville. |
